Midwest
Natural Resources, Inc. is sponsoring a four-day (August 31 - September 3, 2010),
hands-on plant identification course focusing on wetlands plants of Minnesota. The class will be taught by Dr. Robert H.
Mohlenbrock at field sites located around the Twin Cities Metro.
The
course includes a basic review of plant characteristics and techniques
for identifying and keying out plants to family, genus, and species.
The distinguishing field characteristics of each species encountered
will be discussed at length, including the way each plant differs from
any similar looking plant. Additionally, the instructor will include
ecological, habitat, and associated species information for each plant
encountered. This class offers a unique experience to be out in the
field with one of the most prominent botanists in the United States.
This class will also prove excellent for those of varying levels of
botanical expertise, particularly for those delineating and regulating
wetlands here in Minnesota.
